BIM is the Future of Project Management
The School of Construction Management is leading the way in ensuring our graduates are well versed in Building Information Modeling (BIM), which brings disciplines together to communicate needs and changes to each other as seamlessly as possible, helping firms achieve desired efficiencies and reduce the cost of project management over time.
These four courses provide participants an opportunity to work with various BIM stakeholders including architects, contractors, the owners team, and MEP & structural engineers to create 3D drawings utilizing rapidly advancing BIM software and tools in a virtual design and construction environment.
Upon completion of this certificate program you will be job ready to work directly with designers, project managers and engineers to translate a concept into technical drawings that construction workers can build into a reality. Your career in design will support the entire building lifecycle including the concept/design, construction, and operations/maintenance phases.
Offered in a mix of online and instructor led virtual classes supported by a BIM Virtual Open Lab to provide live assistance to students – this certificate program provides the opportunity for practical hands-on training.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
On completion of the four courses students will be awarded a Petrel College – School of Construction Management Certificate and be eligible for Foundations Certification Levels.
Why should you choose to undertake this certificate program?
The benefits are incredibly hard to overlook. For instance, in this certificate program students:
In this course, you will be exploring the principles and benefits of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process in design and construction project management. Concepts key to the implementation and management of BIM, which include standards, policies and procedures, organizational commitment, legal implications, interoperability of BIM platforms, methods of delivery and BIM execution are examined from a value of information perspective. You will also be introduced to techniques of BIM adoption and management to demonstrate how it should be used throughout the delivery and occupation phases of a project.
In this course, students practice 3D modeling using Revit Architecture by learning its fundamental tools and commands. They learn visualizing and applying 3D modeling fundamentals for Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) drawings. From these models, students prepare and modify drawings and practice optimization of designs to communicate dimensions, material, details, schedules, and measurements to access critical design information.
In this course, students practice 3D modeling using Revit Structure by learning its fundamental tools and commands. They learn how to create 3D Structural drawings, annotate construction documents, add tags and compile schedules. From these models, students prepare and edit drawings using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and practice optimization of structural designs to communicate dimensions, material, details, schedules, and measurements to access critical design information.
In this course, students practice 3D modeling of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems using Revit MEP by learning its fundamental tools and commands. They learn how to create 3D MEP drawings, annotate construction documents, add tags and compile schedules. From these models, students prepare and edit drawings using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and practice optimization of MEP designs to communicate dimensions, material, details, schedules and measurements to access critical design information
